Embroider technique  "RICHELIEU"

For this kind of embroidery, it's necessary to place the frame with a special plastic of which later we'll give you technical information.

Over this plastic we'll place the garment to be embroided.

First we have to attach the garment to the plastic by stitching the area to be hollowed, then we cut the fabric of the garment that will be a leftover, this is, from the part of the fabric where it will be joined to the embroidery, but sparing the plastic from the frame.

Next we'll place a sheet of the same plastic over the area where we'll stitch the richelieu.

When starting the embroidery machine, we'll stitch this plastic sheet to match the shape of the embroidery we are about to make, trying to began and to finish small embroidery areas (from about 10 cm2 at the most) because if we embroider a larger surface, when we go back to finish, it will have moved and will be badly embroided.

Once the whole embroidery is finished, we'll tear out the leftover plastic, from the upper as well as from the under sides. It doesn't need to be very polished, because in the following process, the plastic will completely.

Next soak the embroidery in lukewarm water about 2 minutes, then drain the water, and soak it away in clean water, stirring and softly squeezing the embroidery so the water comes in and out, dragging out like this the plastic left in its inside.

Once this is done rinse with plenty clean water and let it dry.

If at the end the embroidery is a little stiff, it means that it has traces of plastic inside. To solve this problem, you must add a little fabric softener in the last rinse.

Once it's dry, iron with steam, you'll see the embroidery obtained is bright with a really spectacular appearance.
